Terms and Important Dates

- Dining Plan Requirement Residents who select a residence hall are required to purchase a dining plan. Plan options are offered by KU Dining and residents eat at venues operated by KU Dining. A resident selects a plan and is billed twice during the academic year, at the start of each semester. For declining balance plans, remaining fall semester balances will carry over and be added to spring semester balances. Any unused dining dollar balance remaining at the end of spring semester is forfeited. For all other students dining plans are optional and may be purchased through KU Dining.
- Rates A resident agrees to accept dining plan charges and pay the applicable fees in accordance with the scheduled due dates as posted by Student Accounts & Receivables. Fees not paid by the due date may result in one or more of the following actions being taken against the resident by the university: 1) postponement of scheduled check-in time; 2) suspension of access to housing and dining facilities; and/or 3) cancellation of contract. Cancellation charges will apply.

- Cancellation Housing residents will follow the Housing Cancelation policy. If approved for cancellation, KU Dining Plans will be cancelled based on a prorated rate according to the week of the semester the student completes their check out from housing. Balances above the prorated amount will be forfeited. Off-campus or apartment eligible students can cancel up to the deadlines or within two weeks of purchasing the dining plan less the amount used. After the deadline has passed, if approved for cancellation, KU Dining Plans will be cancelled based on a prorated rate according to the week of the semester the student completes their check out from housing. Balances above the prorated amount will be forfeited. The university reserves the right to terminate contracts due to emergency needs. In the event the university terminates contracts due to public health, social, civil, governmental, or natural disasters, the university will offer fair and reasonable credits for impacted residents as appropriate and based on information available at that time.

| Off-campus student can sign up for a Fall 2023 $440 plan in the myKU portal https://plan-recharge.ku.edu/.

August 13, 2023
| Deadline to increase dining plans for the Fall semester. |
August 17, 2023 | Fall dining plans and dining dollars become active. (August 13 for early arrivals) |
September 1, 2023, 5pm | Fall dining plan decrease / cancel deadline for optional plans – after this date, no reductions can be made to dining plans for the remainder of the semester. |
September 11, 2023 | You can add funds to the Crimson Flex and Blue Flex plans beginning September 11, 2023 - May 12, 2024. (The $440 Plan can be added at any time). |
November 15, 2023 | First day to adjust spring 2024 dining plans. |
December 15, 2023 | Fall Dining service ends with dinner. Unused Meals and Dining Dollars roll over for use during the spring semester. |
January 13, 2024 | Spring dining plans and dining dollars become active. (January 3 for early arrivals) |
January 26, 2024, 5 pm | Spring 2023 deadline to decrease/cancel deadline for optional dining plans. |
May 10, 2024 | Dining plans end and funds/meals expire. |
